Bedford Embankment 27th September 2009 : We were invited back to the Bedford Embankment cruise by Bob 1 and Bob 2 :-) Good shout lads, many thanks! They turned up this month with their "other" vehicle (like one is not enough?) finished in the low profile EasyJet colour scheme! A real tangerine dream if ever there was one. Accordingly, we began with this vehicle and as they took one of our favorite poster prints off us last time, we spent some time trying to capture this one in this briliant setting to tempt them again! The long portrait shots with green trees, blue sky, bright moon and the tracks of the flies around the uplighters are my personal faves. But if its an arty shot you prefer then the town bridge over the rear end with a starburst on the door mirror should appeal to you maybe :-)

There was some brilliant paint on display providing some excellent reflections of the leafy and colourful setting. Some of the creases in the panels, under a typical sky, would be lost but not here. The VW is a great example of this. The reflection in the door panel of the Blue/Silver Ford Pop is pretty good for 10 o'clock at night :-)

We also captured some "ghosting" as people got in the vehicle, walked past or as the vehicles moved away. Not everyones cup of tea but we try to show the subjects in different ways other than run-of-the-mill stills of course. I am very happy with the "magazine" style shot of the rear end of the Thunderbird with the two guys looking across as they walk past. It almost looks staged!

Some of the images I have duplicated with special graphic effects as I like to see what technology can do to change the appearance of the subject. Oh yes! And unlike last month when Love Mae was asleep in the truck as I busied myself around the vehicles, she was suitably impressed to want to stay awake and take a few of these shots as well. However, she did end up like most others there and talked most of the time!

As before, if you would like any of these images on disc or in the form of a 20" x 30" awesome print, drop us an email at info@clevercaptures.com and we can sort this for you. We did bring down a sample poster and we are pleased to say that was snapped up by the vehicle owner :-) We are so happy that you enjoy looking at our images as much as we enjoy capturing them! Many thanks one and all :-)

ENJOY!

Bedford Embankment 30th August 2009 : Spent an hour or two on the Bedford Embankment where a few out-of-the-ordinary cars had gathered. The Embankment has a combination of sodium lighting, strings of white tungsten bulbs and violet and green uplighters into the tree canopies. The light within these images is greater than can be seen with the human eye and obtained with tripod mounted long exposures. This difficult environment for photography is where the 5DMkII really comes into its own. The video preview on the large LCD is brilliant and lets me know almost exactly how the stills will come out before I hit the shutter. Virtually every shot comes out perfectly lit and sharp as a razor. And with such great vehicles to capture, the satisfaction of photography does not come much better than this :-) Check out the fire appliance in the side window of the Ford Anglia. You cannot see it but you can see the intermittent blue flashing light as it passed through the long exposure :-)

Obviously happy to pass on the full size images for a small donation to the equipment kitty of course :-) The images here are a much reduced 350K from the 20MB full size versions that can be supplied on disc. We can also supply truly awesome enlargements up to 20" x 30" poster size! Please email me at info@clevercaptures.com with any enquiries about these images.

We would really like to do a lot more of this type of photography so please shout out if you would like more of the same :-) It was fun - nice bunch of people too :-) Well organised Pikey! :-)

Videos : Here is a short HiDef video of the event. Please be patient with the download as its BIG but worth it! Try and wait (if you can) until the whole thing has downloaded before you run it :-) The coloured lighting of Bedford's Embankment adds another dimension to how good these vehicles look. I dubbed over the original soundtrack on 99% of this but decided to keep the last few seconds because no better sound track exists - The view of that lovely "rear end" is also very pleasing to the eye!

ENJOY!

Chelsea Cruise - October 2009 : Welcome to the 2009 version of the famouse Chelsea Cruise. How I wish I had images from the same Cruise in the late 70's when I last attended! Today's Cruise is a good deal more American based than before. No swarm of radically modified 1930's Pops, Rovers and Austins, instead there were quite a few very nice (and very nice sounding) American variants as seen below. The first half dozen or so have been edited to look a little more pleasing on the eye but the rest are pretty much as shot. I may edit a few more depending on interest of course :-)

The first image is a sample image and is 0.4MB and 1200 pixels wide (just select "original" from the slide out menu to see it the size I uploaded it) but this is greatly reduced. The real original is 5616 pixels wide and around 20MB! If you like what you see, email me at info@clevercaptures.com and we can sort out a disc for you for a small donation to the camera equipment kitty :-)

The owner of the sample image car might wish that he could remove the signs of corrosion as easily as I did! It looks so much better cleaned up don't you think? :-)

Laterzzzz

Peter
