Surf's up! Abbey Rapids Freestyle! : OK, this is an unexpected gallery under this Category! We went to Abbey Rapids on Saturday in preparation for me racing on the Sunday. We thought we would watch the Premier races and arrived just as the 1st runs were ending. We then stood on the bank and watched the river level rise between 3 and 4 feet in about 1hour! Upstream gates became actual upstream gates that were impossible to negotiate and the event was cancelled. So why the gallery here? Well, a handful of paddlers got on to enjoy the hole that appeared below the main drop and entertain all those on the bank with some impromptu freestyle moves in slalom boats :-) You will not see any slalom poles in this gallery! Many thanks to one and all, you gave us a great photo opportunity as can be seen below. Feel free to comment and maybe identify the showboaters - particularly in the images where they are not actually IN the shot! High Force : After the race at Abbey Rapids we drove about 15 miles to see the spectacular High Force Waterfall. Definately well worth the long walk from the carpark down into the valley it was too! We consider this to be Englands answer to Tinago falls on the island of Mindanao. Just not quite so warm here :-)

Abbey Rapids Div 1 Event Sunday 4th October 2009 : These images are from the Division 1 slalom on Sunday, taken of all classes during the 2nd runs. If you order any of these I will be cropping/post producing the ones you get as none of these have been properly cropped other than the first sample image of the second image. Too many images and not enough time! If you would like any of these images, we can send you a CD containing the images you select of any one competitor (this includes C2 pairs). All we ask is a small donation towards the camera equipment purse as follows:- For 3 images - £10 For 6 images - £15 For 10 images £20. Donations include post and packing :-) Please remember to state the gallery title and complete image numbers!
