Bedford River Festival Slalom 2008 : Demonstration canoe and kayak slalom at Duckmill Weir with invited athletes Joe Coombs, James Bailey, Jake Silvester, Andrew Rendell and Joel Crossland.

Polo : Pictures from a friendly canoe polo match at Luton featuring local teams and Bedford's Viking Kayak Club. The pool was very under lit requiring both flash and f2.8 aperture lens but I think you can still get a feel for the speed and action of the sport. ENJOY!

VKC Paddle Power Awards 2008 : Paddle Power Paddlers receiving awards at VKC. Apologies for the poor quality of the pictures but these are taken using a real lowlife pocket cam as I was not warned that pictures were going to be required! However, some are ok :-) Well done one and all! Hope to see some of you at my slalom sessions soon ok! :-)

CCPR Sports Club of the Year 2009 : Images and videos from the 2009 Sports Awards in which Viking Kayak Club came 2nd :-) We were awarded £3000 as well so this is great news for all at VKC of course. Our congratulations to Richmond Volleyball Club who were very worthy winners of the main Award. On the subject of image quality, apologies but most of these were taken with a Canon Ixus "point and click" camera that has lived in my pocket for a couple of years! So no prizes for brilliant images. However, we simply wanted quick and easy images to remind us of the event and these came out great for this purpose as you can see :-)

VKC Its a Knockout 2009 : Big thanks to Shaun for organising a very enjoyable and successful "Its a Knockout!" competition. Quite clearly this event went down very well indeed - with some of the boats going down too! he best game seemed to be the balloon game :-) Brilliant! :-) Please note that these reduced images are for Club use only. VKC - Tim Brabants Visit 22nd July 2009 : Peter Smart of Viking Kayak Club won a competition to meet and obtain some racing tips from Tim Brabants, the 2008 Olympic Gold Medal Winner in the 1000M K1 Sprint. The Club siezed the opportunity to enjoy the visit with Love Mae and I taking pictures of the occasion. Tim is pretty much the same as any other kayaker I have met. Friendly, very personable, and a generally good bloke. The essential difference is he paddles faster! He brought with him that amazing Gold Medal of course and the only things that were larger were the eyes of the Clubs youngsters as they stared at it!Big thanks to Tim for this and to Peter for sharing this prize with others. VKC Paddle Power Awards 2009 : Chairman Rob and Richard "bearded warrior" Harpham hand out the awards at the VKC Paddle Power evening. Our Master of ceremonies was Shaun Bower and the images were captured by Club photographer Love Mae. Very well done to all recipients, we hope to see you all progressing further in one or more of the various disciplines of canoeing and kayaking.
